Becoming a Parent Quest Mentor or Volunteer

Want to Share Your Parenting Story?

The Application Process:

Have you ever had a strong desire to share your knowledge or story about being a parent? Have you had a burning desire to help others who are going through a similar situation you have experienced as a parent? We are always looking for mentors of all different ethnicities, backgrounds, parenting experiences, etc. Eventually, the Parent Quest would like to have a parent mentor for every diagnosis, situation, or stressful event in the world. Now we know this is a very lofty goal, but it can be done with a lot of hard work and dedication from volunteer parent mentors like you.

After completing an online application, The Parent Quest Mentor Coordinator will review your application and contact you within 5-7 business days. Once your application has been approved, you will need to take our online training course. After your training course has been completed your online mentor profile will be created. You then can begin mentoring. When a parent has chosen you to become their mentor, you can then decided together on the frequency and method of contact necessary for you to have a successful mentoring relationship. The Parent Quest Mentor Coordinator will follow up with you on a weekly basis either by phone or email to follow the progress of each of your mentor relationships.

Am I Ready To Mentor?

Being a mentor is a serious job and not just a hobby. Please make sure you are ready to be a mentor to another parent. There might be times where a parent is in a very dangerous spot mentally and/or physically. Should any problems arise during the course of your mentoring, The Parent Quest Mentor Coordinator is available by phone 24/7. You will always be able to contact her in the case of an emergency. Should a parent ever discuss the need to hurt themselves encourage them to call 911. Should a parent ever discuss the desire to hurt their child immediately call Child Protective Services. If these are situations you do not feel you could handle, mentoring might not be a great fit for you at this time.  Although these situations are extreme and most of the time you will be dealing with normal parenting topics, you have to be able to handle an emergency.
